Diana Warner

Diana Warner serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the Texas Department of Agriculture, overseeing all agency fiscal matters and answering directly to the Deputy Commissioner.  When Diana joined the Texas Department of Agriculture in January 2015, she brought with her 39 years of financial experience including 31 years in management positions.  Her work experience includes both government and commercial business, with 22 years of experience in the public sector and 17 years of experience in the private sector.

From October 2012 to January 2015, Ms. Warner was CFO for the Texas Facilities Commission. Her areas of responsibility at TFC included budget, accounting, procurement, information technology, state and federal surplus property, and warehouse operations activities.


Prior to her tenure as a CFO in state government, Diana served in the Travis County Auditor's Office from May 1992 to September 2012.  She was promoted to division director over Financial Reporting in October 1993, and then promoted to First Assistant County Auditor in January 1994, where she was responsible for the management oversight of the day-to-day operations of the County Auditor's Office's line functions which included Financial Reporting, Grants, Payroll, Disbursements, and Revenue & Internal Controls Auditing.  Her job responsibilities also included accounting research, departmental budget planning, development and preparation, financial analyses, and providing financial accounting and reporting guidance to county offices.


Prior to relocating to Austin in 1992, Ms. Warner was employed from 1974 to 1991 by Tenneco Gas, which at the time was the natural gas pipeline division of Tenneco, Inc. She was promoted to supervisor in 1981 and then to manager in 1982. In 1983, she was selected to be the Financial Manager for the user community on a new integrated financial system project. Upon the implementation of the financial system in 1986, Diana was promoted to Assistant Controller over Financial Accounting, which included the consolidations, financial reporting, budget, SEC & FERC reporting, payroll, capital assets, and disbursements activities. In 1988 she assumed the position of Assistant Controller over the Natural Gas Operations accounting activities with a staff of 121 employees.


Ms. Warner has a Bachelor's of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a major in Accounting from Stephen F. Austin State University (1974).
