Accessibility Policy

The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) is committed to making its Web sites and other electronic information resources (EIR) accessible to individuals with disabilities.  To improve our Web accessibility, we test and carefully review our pages with various software tools.

TDA ACCESSIBILITY PLAN:

TDA is diligently working to improve accessibility for users with disabilities - all new, or significantly altered web pages, web content, and web applications must conform to these accessibility standards and specifications. TDA is committed to making our Web sites accessible according to the standards set forth in Title 1 Texas Administrative Code (TAC) Chapters 206 and 213, and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (36 CFR, Section 1194). Under rare and special circumstances, TDA's Commissioner may grant an EIR accessibility exception request, pursuant to Section 2054.460 of the Texas Government Code.


ACCESSIBILITY EXEMPTION REQUEST:

If TDA determines that compliance with a standard or specification in this policy would impose a significant difficulty or expense, an exception request shall be made to the TDA EIR Accessibility Coordinator.  The request must  include a description of the accessibility issue, justification for exception, and a plan for a reasonable alternate method for access.  The TDA Accessibility Coordinator shall evaluate the request, formulate recommendations regarding the request, and forward it to the TDA Commissioner or designee who will specify an expiration date for an approved exception.
