The statewide week-long dine out event promotes Texas restaurants and Texas-grown foods while helping donate money to food banks. Commissioner Staples challenged mayors across Texas Tuesday, June 9 to feed as many children as possible this summer through the Texas Department of Agriculture's Summer Nutrition Programs. A recent report by Feeding America revealed staggering statistics, ranking Texas as the nationwide leader in food insecure children under 18, and ranking the state third for food insecure households - families who are unable to consistently access adequate amounts of nutritious food necessary for a healthy life. |

| Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples today led an effort to rebuild fences on ranches that were hit by Hurricane Ike more than six months ago. Through "Operation New Fences," Commissioner Staples, state agency officials, local community leaders and volunteers distributed more than $100,000 worth of donated fence posts and barbed wire to nearly 100 ranchers in the Hurricane Ike surge zone in Chambers, Galveston, Jefferson, Liberty and Orange counties. |
