Statement by Texas Agriculture Commissioner Miller About Latest Federal Dietary Guidelines (1/7/2016)

AUSTIN - Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller released the following statement regarding the latest federal dietary guidelines released today:

“We have long known that a well-balanced diet includes a variety of produce and lean red meat, and I’m pleased that the latest version of the federal health and nutrition guidelines takes this common-sense approach to promote healthy lifestyles and the wellbeing of American families. Having ready access to a variety of fresh, delicious, homegrown fruits, vegetables and meats is critical to encouraging healthy eating habits, and the Texas agriculture industry plays a key role in providing the food and fiber that sustains our state, our nation and the world.”
