Commissioner Miller Elected as Vice President of National Ag Organization (6/8/2017)

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has been elected as Vice President of the Southern Association of State Departments of Agriculture (SASDA) at their 2017 annual conference. SASDA is the Southern branch of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA), and is comprised of the Commissioners, Secretaries, and Directors of Agriculture from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia and the Virgin Islands.

“I am honored to receive the trust and support of my colleagues from across the South,” Commissioner Miller said. “Many of the challenges we face in Texas agriculture are also found in other states and SASDA is a great way to find common solutions to these problems. We also share ideas and tactics that have found success to increase prosperity and production across the agriculture sector in other states, which ultimately strengthens Texas ag, too. I look forward to continuing to work with my counterparts across the country to find solutions and strategies that will benefit Texas ag producers and the ag industry in Texas.”

Like many organizations, the position of vice president is an opportunity to prepare a member to assume the leadership position after one year. Commissioner Miller will become president of SASDA at the conference in 2018, and Texas will have the honor of hosting the annual conference in 2019.
