TEXAS AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER SID MILLER AIMS TO EXPAND TEXAS TRADE WITH VISIT TO VIETNAM

AUSTIN - Commissioner Miller will depart for an Agribusiness Trade Mission in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on Friday, October 11. He will accompany the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Under Secretary Ted McKinney along with 15 delegation members; including 13 additional state agriculture departments. While in Vietnam, Commissioner Miller will focus on bilateral economic and agricultural practices in Vietnam, discuss important issues with major grain traders operating in the country and work on strengthening trade relationships with Vietnam.  The trade mission will include briefings from Vietnamese agriculture industry representatives, a tour of one of the largest supermarket chains in Vietnam, and a visit to the only fully automated cold storage facility in Asia.

Texas is one of the largest agriculture exporting states in the nation. Vietnam is the 7th largest market for U.S. agricultural products. This is a great opportunity for Texas agriculture to expand trade with Vietnam. Texas products including beef genetics, small grain crops and other GO TEXAN products.
