Texas Agriculture Is The Focus Of New National TV Show Hosted By Commissioner Sid Miller (12/13/2019)
AUSTIN – Today, Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced he will host a new weekly television show that will premiere on the RFD-TV network next month. Airing for the first time Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020 Texas Agriculture Matters will spotlight Texas agriculture for 52 million viewers nationwide.
Through feature segments, one-on-one interviews and eye-catching infographics, Texas Agriculture Matters delivers equal doses of ag policy, local products, western heritage and rural lifestyle. From cattle to cotton and rodeos to rockets, Texas Agriculture Matters is a fun, informative look at the role of agriculture in our daily lives.
“What an exciting time for Texas agriculture,” Commissioner Miller said. “This show is a great opportunity to give folks from across the nation a big Texas welcome as we explain exactly why Texas agriculture matters. We’ll be talking about the big issues in Texas agriculture and highlighting hooves, hide, hair, horns and everything in between. A huge thank you to Patrick Gottsch and his entire team at RFD-TV for giving us this incredible opportunity.”
“From day one RFD-TV has strived to showcase the best of agriculture in each state,” Cowboy Channel CEO Raquel Gottsch said. “We are excited to announce that vision has come to life in the Lonestar State and home to The Cowboy Channel. It doesn’t get much more Texan than Commissioner Sid Miller.”
Commissioner Miller will promote Texas Agriculture Matters today at 10:15am PST (12:15pm CST) on The Cowboy Channel’s Western Sports Round Up (WSR) live from Las Vegas, Nevada. Commissioner Miller will sit down with hosts Amy Wilson and Steve Kenyon to talk about the show, reveal guests and topics and spin a few behind-the-scenes stories.
Also, catch Commissioner Miller on the TDA Facebook page for a Facebook Live before he steps onstage with Wilson and Kenyon for WSR.
“The real stars of this show are the Texas farmers and ranchers who provide the food and fiber we all need,” Miller said. “These are the men and women who keep our ag industry $110 billion strong and our agricultural heritage alive. This show is a big pat on the back for them. They deserve every bit of attention we can give them.”
Whether on horseback roping a calf, or at his desk running the Texas Department of Agriculture, eighth generation farmer and rancher and 12-time world champion rodeo cowboy Commissioner Miller has dedicated his life to the Texas agriculture. Miller has previously hosted his own radio show and currently voices the TDA Daily Market Roundup heard statewide. This is his first turn as television host.
Texas Agriculture Matters is produced entirely by RFD-TV in agreement with the Texas Department of Agriculture and recorded at the RFD-TV/The Cowboy Channel studio in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards. Commissioner Miller hosts the show in his capacity as Texas Agriculture Commissioner and receives no compensation for his participation.
