Texas Agriculture Memorial Day (Nov. 21) Honors Those Who Gave so Much to Agriculture Community
On Tuesday, November 21, the Texas Department of Agriculture will host the 2nd Annual Texas Agriculture Memorial Day at the Texas Capitol in Austin. Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller Honors Texas Farm and Ranch Families at 42nd Annual Family Land Heritage Ceremony

Commissioner Miller Kicks Off National School Lunch Week
Commissioner Miller today announced the start of National School Lunch Week, which runs Oct. 9 to 13, and emphasizes the value of leading healthy lifestyles to Texas students. In partnership with the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA), every school day, Texas schools serve approximately 3 million healthy meals through the National School Lunch Program.  [More]

Commissioner Miller Kicks Off Annual Local Products Challenge
Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced the return of the Texas Department of Agriculture’s (TDA) annual Local Products Challenge. Each October, school cafeterias work to earn TDA recognition for serving more local products in meals while teaching children about foods grown and raised in Texas. More than 177 school districts and charter schools have pledged participation in this year’s Local Products Challenge. Participating schools will offer more than 2.4 million Texas children a new opportunity to try healthy local foods in the cafeteria.  [More]
