Daily Market Summary for July 15th

Slaughter Cattle:  

As of 3:00 PM Monday, negotiated cash trading has been at a standstill in the Southern Plains and Nebraska. In the Western Cornbelt negotiated cash trading has been very inactive on very light demand. Not enough trades for a market trend. Last week in the Texas Panhandle live cash trades moved from 111.00-112.00. In Kansas last week live cash trades moved at 112.00. For the prior week in Nebraska live cash trades moved mostly from 112.00-114.00 and dressed cash trades moved from 182.00-185.00. In the Western Cornbelt for the previous week live cash trades moved mostly at 115.00 and dressed cash trades moved from 182.00-185.00.

Alberta Beef Producers Daily Report: Alberta CA

Alberta direct cattle sales last week saw light trade develop with weighted average steer and heifer prices closing the week at 144.25 and 143.25 respectively. Prices are 10.00 lower compared to the same week last year. All reported cash sales traded locally. Looking at the non-fed market butcher cows traded 1.00-2.00 higher through commercial auction facilities last week. Butcher bulls continue to be the bright spot of the non-fed market. Last week butcher bull prices traded 3.00 higher and are within a couple dollars of their annual highs.

Boxed Beef: 

Boxed beef cutout values firm on Choice and weak on Select on light to moderate demand and heavy offerings. Select and Choice rib, chuck, and round cuts steady to weak while loin cuts firm. Beef trimmings mostly moderately higher on moderate to good demand and moderate offerings.
