In 2009, the 81^st Legislature established the Texas Bioenergy Policy Council and the Texas Bioenergy Research Committee for the purpose of developing a successful bioenergy industry in the State of Texas.

To accomplish this goal, Commissioner Todd Staples charged the policy council and research committee members to address the challenges facing the industry with strategies that are sustainable, equitable, and defensible.

• Higher Education Survey - Distributed to both public and private universities on August 8, 2011, the survey will be used to show the academic and research capabilities of the state's higher education infrastructure and it's ability to support a sustainable bioenergy industry with graduates and research.
