Commissioner Miller Calls for End of Federal Government Shutdown to Expedite Agriculture Relief
It’s time to end this shutdown and get the federal government back to work. Our brave military personnel, federal law enforcement officers, and air traffic controllers are serving without pay. Our farmers and ranchers are also being left without the vital relief they depend on to keep their operations running. Stopping this shutdown is about supporting the men and women who serve our nation and feed our families.  [More]

This isn’t just a livestock issue, it’s about protecting Texas jobs, rural communities, and our agricultural lifeblood.  [More]

STATEMENT FROM TEXAS AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER MILLER BACKING GOVERNOR ABBOTT’S TEXAS NATIONAL GUARD DEPLOYMENT
“Texas isn’t going to stand by while lawlessness puts our communities at risk. I fully back Governor Abbott’s decision to send the Texas National Guard at President Trump’s request. It’s time we step up, strengthen security inside our own borders, and crack down on the criminals that threaten our law enforcement officers. We need to focus on the cities that need help the most. The American people have demanded that we enforce the law and protect our federal officers, so we should let the Texas Guard do what it does best—safeguard America.”  [More]

COMMISSIONER SID MILLER PRAISES CONDITIONAL APPROVAL OF FIRST DRUG TO TREAT SCREWWORM INFESTATIONS IN CATTLE
To stop the New World screwworm quickly, we can’t just depend on sterile fly production. With the latest case popping up only 70 miles from our Texas border, we’re running out of time. It’s time to think outside the box. That’s why I’m excited to see the FDA give conditional approval to Zoetis’s Dectomax-CA1, the very first drug to both prevent and treat screwworm infestations in cattle.  [More]
